Yuka's Foundation course - Basic obedience
We feel it is our human responsibility to prepare our young dogs for the fast-paced life we live in today. Not only many people are struggling with all the input from the outside world, our 24/7 society, imagine being a dog trying to deal with this world where so much is expected of them. The more we can prepare our canine-friends, the more comfortable and stress free their lives will be, and as such also ours. Who doesn’t want an easy going, happy dog who responds reliably to cues?
Why wait for stress or problems to occur to then address them… why not prevent them? Train FOR the situation, and not IN the situation.
We will put our kids in swimming classes to prepare them FOR future fun but also FOR future risk of falling into water. When they need to learn, we will not throw them into the deep end, expecting to learn right there and then, we build their skill and comfort step by step. One will need more time, one will be a natural… just like dogs.
By setting up our training FOR the situation, we can prepare them and so reduce any future stress, as much as we can. Your dog will be grateful you have taken the time to show him the future world! Setting up for success!
For who:
Dogs of ages between 6 months – 16 years old.
Is your dog suitable for training? Absolutely! Dogs of all ages can learn and so can humans. In fact, learning new things and being exposed to new experiences stimulates the brain and creates new connections, improving overall brain health. It’s pretty cool, right?
Our Foundation classes are the sequel to the Puppy classes. Set up in a way dogs without this Puppy-base can easily join.
During the course we focus on building a strong foundation for a happy, healthy, comfortable dog.
What will we work on:
We will teach you as a handler not only about strengthening concepts in your dog. But also to think like a solution-seeker. We will build your personal library of games and understanding of concepts. This way, when your dog grows in a certain direction, you have the ability to notice and change this direction if needed. You will be able to solve your own training-challenges! For those who joined our Puppy Classes, we will strengthen and build further on your existing concepts and add even more! Examples would be:
Confidence, Optimism, Novelty, Proximity, Calmness, Boundary Games, Focus, Self-Control, Arousal Up, Arousal Down, Disengagement / Engagement, Flexibility and much more.
All by playing different games that support these concepts!
While working on these concepts we work on cues like: sit, down, recall (Proximity), stay (Boundary Games), walking on the leash without pulling (Proximity).
